Privacy Notice - Data Protection Act 1998 

We, Gurnard Primary School, are a data controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act. We collect personal information about our pupils and may receive information about our pupils from their previous school(s).

We hold this personal data to:

  • Support pupils' learning;
  • Monitor and report on their progress;
  • Provide appropriate pastoral care, and
  • Assess how well pupils are doing. 

Information about pupils that we hold includes their contact details, national curriculum assessment results, attendance information and personal characteristics such as their ethnic group, any special educational needs they may have and relevant medical information.

We will not give information about our pupils to anyone without the consent of their parents/carers unless the law and our policies allow us to. We are required by law to pass some information about our pupils to our Local Authority (LA) and the Department for Education (DfE). Further Information may be passed to the LA only, in line with data sharing agreements.
