Gurnard Primary School is located just a short walk away from the picturesque village of Gurnard and the thriving coastal town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Gurnard

The pretty coastal village of Gurnard has some spectacular Solent views and is great place to watch the many sailing events that take place on the Island during the year.

The beach at Gurnard is pebble and shingle and currently holds a Seaside Award. From here in the evening you can take in some of the finest sunsets in the UK. At the eastern point of the beach is Gurnard Sailing Club which hosts many sailing and social events and runs sailing courses for both children and adults.

In the village there is a shop and a newsagents. There is a cafe and a restaurant on the seafront as well as two pubs in the village that serve food. On the seafront there is a sloping green and kids play area with some great walks and cycle routes to be explored in the area.

Cowes

Cowes is steeped in maritime heritage with a bustling harbour and large marinas making it very popular for sailing all year round. Cowes Week, the world’s largest sailing regatta, takes place here every August.

Cowes is a vibrant area for shopping and it is easily navigated along the pedestrianised High Street. There is everything from famous high street brands to specialist chandleries, as well as some more quirky shops and galleries.  Cowes offers a variety of different cuisines with award winning restaurants selling locally sourced produce, cafes and popular pubs selling traditional English food.

Cowes is located on the west bank of the River Medina and just a 10 minute drive to Newport, the principal town of the Isle of Wight.
