WELCOME MESSAGE

Welcome to Gurnard Primary School; a popular school situated in the vibrant village of Gurnard on the beautiful north coast of the Isle of Wight. Our school is just a short walk from the beach and a short drive from the capital town of Newport.

I feel incredibly lucky to be the Headteacher of Gurnard Primary school; to be working alongside children as they begin their educational journey is a real privilege. Like all educators in the primary sector, we have the opportunity to introduce children to the wonders of the world around them and it is vital that we get this right to ensure children become enthusiastic, excited and inspired learners from the very first moment they walk through our doors. We are constantly striving to ensure we deliver the very best we can for each and every child that attends Gurnard Primary School.

Our core values of  Respect, Success and Belonging underpin everything we do, these core values are embedded into every day which helps us to ensure we remain a happy and caring school. Our staff priortise building positive relationships with our children as we know that for children to be the very best versions of themselves they must be in an environment in which they feel safe, valued and believed in.

Although we recognise that academic success is important, we also believe that for education to be successful, it has to be about preparing children for life. We believe that our children should develop an understanding of the wider world, their place within it and how they can make a positive difference. We encourage our pupils to work hard, knowing that facing challenges and making mistakes are all just part of the journey.
