Our school day

The school day starts at 8.30am and finishes at 3.00pm.  Morning registration is from 8.30am to 8.40am.

Morning break
Children in Years 1 to 6 have a morning break.  Children may have fruit or vegetables as a snack. The children in Reception Classes do not have a formal break time - they are too busy playing! To help support their transition to Year 1, they will join the children in Key Stage 1 to have break towards the end of the school year.

Lunch
Our lunch time is staggered from 11.45am to 1.00pm, with the children in Reception having their lunch from 11.45am.

Afternoon break
We do not have a formal afternoon break but children in Key Stage 1 have a quick 10 minute break as required.

Drop-off and collection
  • Parents and carers should drop-off their child at their classroom doors.  Children in Year 3 Carisbrooke Class and Year 4 Newtown Class should be dropped off at the double doors in The Courtyard.  All class teachers are available every morning from 8.20am should you need to speak to them.
  • Parents and carers of children in Reception Classes should come in through the double doors next to the Reception Classes, help their child to hang up their coat and bag and drop-off their child off in their classroom.  This provides an opportunity for you to talk to your child's key person and share their learning and progress.
  • At the end of the day, children should be collected from their classrooms.  Children in Year 3 Carisbrooke Class and Year 4 Newtown Class should be collected from the double doors in The Courtyard.  Children in Reception can be collected at 2.55pm with collection for all other classes at 3.00pm.  Children in Years 5 and 6 can come to school and walk home by themselves if written consent is provided to the school office.
  • Please let the school office know if normal collection arrangements have to be altered (e.g. you are delayed or another person is collecting your child).

Getting to school
Walking is definitely the best option to get to and from school! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car; it improves the safety of pedestrians and road users; and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike and scooter racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park considerately.
