Challenge Programme

Gurnard Primary School takes part in the Challenge Programme for more able pupils led by Newchurch Primary School. 

The Challenge Programme was developed to provide regular and varied enrichment activities for more able and talented pupils in primary schools on the Isle of Wight.  The programme aims to:

• Enrich, extend and enthuse the learning of more able pupils;
• Provide access to specialist teaching;
• Enable more able pupils to work with like-minded peers; and
• Support the continuing professional development of teachers and subject specialists in primary schools.

2015-16 Challenge Programme

• Ten workshops will be offered during the academic year 2015-16 focusing on English, maths, science and art.
• All workshops will be delivered by subject specialists.
• Each participating primary school will be offered 4 places on each workshop.
• The workshops are targeted at more able pupils in Years 5 and 6.
